Can fanatical religious people really be open-minded?

this is the main question really for any religious org.

according to them do it gods way and close your mind to your own logic and reason and that of the worlds (given to us by the very god they believe in).

or be an independent thinker and reason stuff out according to the watchtower satan influences independent thinkers and they warn against it as this is the devils way of doing it.

When REALITY sets in; it can be devastating! Other than that, keep working on REASON! That alone is very hard to do.

i'm wondering if there are many truly militant apostates out there....... some real god hating watchtower bashing hard guys....i just read the "bill bowen update" thread and feel that all opposition is good opposition, and knowing that the wt society can see any posts we make, also feel its a shame they can see squabbles among their enemies.

People just don't know what else to say. In reality, true R&F JWs lack the ability and just don't know how to be truly militant. I do think that there are some, but very few R&F that could be militant. However, that requires: a spine, a set of testicles, and also requires the men to take off the skirt and put on a pair of pants--blue jeans.

May never see it! Just don't know.

Ray Franz df'd , what did the society say ??????

i remember vaguely, well all hell broke loose in the late 70's regarding, ray franz being df'd, and the witch hunt at bethel.

i was just a little kid at the time, and didn't pay much attention.. i know ray's point of view, from what i've read on this board, and also ordered myself his book "crisis of conscience"(should be a good read).

i think back now, i remember the event happening, and the speaker talking about it at our circuit assembly, but i don't recall the reasons (bs) he gave.

The WTB&TS as already mentioned, never said much. However they did imply bad things by various articles and the R&F gossip line. Which these two worked together at the time.

Militant Apostates

the stories coming out of italy at the moment are unbelievable.. berlusconi is the italian prime minister.

he is also the countries biggest media mogul and the president of real madrid football club.. he recently telephoned a live television debate on italy's top political program and shouted at the presenter,( for daring to bring up the scandal that is facing berlusconi ) and said to him ' you are a public sector worker, know your place!'.

he then took the program off the air and sacked the presenter.

Paying interest on a Kingdom Hall loan, is it interest or mortgage ???

i have read several threads where the general concession is, a new kingdom hall being built that needs a loan is usually 3 % .

let's say this is true (for the sake of arguement).

now i just renewed my mortgage at 5 % interest, sounds great doesn't it, but the first 5 years 50% of your money is going to interest and 50 % to principal, because the bank makes you pay the interest first.

Pay your taxes and don't play games. You don't want the trouble do you?Please trust me when I say this: If the government wants you, they will track you down and with the new Patriot Act, you will be charged with something and you will pay the price and/or disappear. Most of the time the IRS, etc. will make an example out of trouble makers and this will scare most people into cooperation! Know what you are getting into before you "file paperwork or protest."

I was called into the local IRS office several years ago. they wanted to audit my books and inquire about some "special accounts." After twenty minutes and a few phone calls, they realized that they made a giant mistake and lets just say, EVERYTHING WAS ACCOUNTED FOR AND I WAS COMPENSATED FOR MY TIME.

Funny thing, you flash some credentials and ID, you get a new line of respect!
